Airbnb Key Management Solutions
If you have a spare bed, room or property and want to boost your income, Airbnb is great. But, it isn’t just a matter of letting people into your home, there is a fair bit of effort required. First there is building your Airbnb profile and getting your property guest ready, then there’s marketing, communicating with guests and of course, check-ins and check-outs – you need to be there to let your guests in. Or, do you? While it may be considered good hosting, being there in person to greet guests isn’t always practical. Luckily, however, there are several key management alternatives.
Hide Your Keys
The simplest option is to hide the keys somewhere outside your property, for example, under a flower pot. It’s easy, it’s free, and it enables your guests to access your property without you, but there are security risks as it leaves your property venerable to break-ins.
Ask a Friend
More secure than hiding keys under flower pots and more personal, is asking a friend or family member to help you out. This is a win-win situation as your guests benefit from the personal touch while you get security, great reviews and are not out of pocket – although you may be down a beer or two!
Use a Key Safe
If having friends or family attend to your guests isn’t an option, key safes are ideal. They remove the need for you to be present, but maintain security and are simple to use. Just install a keypad operated safe by your front door, put your keys in and pass the code onto your guests who can then come and go as they please. It is a good idea to add change the key safe code to your to-do list between guests though, as otherwise your security could be compromised.
Install a Digital Lock
One step further than a key safe is to install a digital lock on your property. This could involve adding a keypad to your front door or using a smartphone-operated application that enables you to send time-limited digital keys to your guests. Again, they offer flexibility and are secure, but they are more costly than some of the other options mentioned.
